It was terrible. You could almost watch the riders getting pushed back mid jump. Just about everyone landed flat at one point or another.

It covers the two reliably nice months in Canada: July and August. Any other month could have a snow storm, depending on where you live.

Also, unlike other sports, there’s no season. I got fatigue because there’s no end and no resolution, just event, event, event. The sport I care about most is hockey, with an 82 game season and endless playoffs, but there’s still an off season. So when the weather gets cold, I can look forward to the return of hockey,

Even high school me appreciated the safe sex message in that track.

Canadian here: having a baby probably cost me less than $100. All of that in parking fees. My second kid will likely be a bit more expensive as I’m hoping for a private room. So about $350, except that we have extra benefits from Mr. Snob’s work, so really more like $75.

Charring is perhaps an over statement. More like baking on. It’s not burned, and still edible, but a beast to clean up.

Thanks! I think you’ve described half of all my cooking issues - cooking while distracted.

I’ve made this a few times, and it’s good, but not worth the hassle of cleaning the pot after. How do you keep it from charring? Non-stick pot?

Amazingly, I’ve never seen this video before, but I sure know all the lyrics.

Would that all Canadians recognized this obligation. I find it can be sadly lacking these days, as the ‘me first’ types try to take over public discourse. Some of the rhetoric surrounding Syrian refugees in particular was disgusting. I don’t always love Trudeau, but I’m glad he made it clear that it was our duty to

You’re right, but I’m generally ignoring those headlines - when it’s colder than the poles, who cares by how much? That doesn’t actually help me live my life - minus 20 is better than minus 30, but I’m staying inside either way.

Also, people are crossing the border by walking over in the DEAD OF FUCKING WINTER. I know the USA is cold right now and all that, but Canada is generally colder, and with 1/10th the population on more land, it’s generally further between cities/towns/any kind of settlement.

I do that and have no talent. I’m sure the littlest winesnob won’t bring it up in therapy.

Well, except the Clintons, unless you believe some especially dark corners of the web.

Now playing

I was introduced to this lately, and thought I might share it here. This performance also goes gloriously off the rails, but I don’t think Patti is to blame:

This. I coached little girls and listened to other coaches tell them to only eat light cream cheese. Fuck that. I told them to eat lightly before the performance (I didn’t want barfing), but after that it was open season on bagels. Ten year olds don’t need that kind of complex.

Might be the particular store(s) you were visiting. There has been significant improvement at a lot of store, though I don’t doubt there are some store that time forgot left.

When was that? There’s been a renovation boom at LCBOs in the last few years.

Panic is good. Kids are a big, life changing deal, and it’s important to know what you’re getting into. Too many people have unrealistic expectations about parenting and child rearing, especially how exhausting newborns can be.

I haven’t read the whole link (littlest snob is getting up from his nap), but holy shit. That is aweful. The idea that the very stress of having to work harder to achieve the same results as a white person can have adverse health effects is both terrifying, and somehow unsurprising.
