There are invisible disabilities that allow people to look completely “normal” (for lack of a better term) but impact them in meaningful ways that would allow them to benefit from programs like these.

My company has an annual disability conference on campus, and it just happened this past month. One of the talks provided was about having invisible disabilities and the benefit of sharing that information with our employers/leads in order to get accommodations and acceptance.

I mentioned this in another comment, but we’re fucking terrible to people with invisible disabilities. Another assistive device that I would add to the plates that also gets a lot of side-eye and caustic comments are service animals. If you’re not visibly disabled, people are quite awful about service dogs.

I was going to follow up and say something similar. People with invisible disabilities exist, and many of those people benefit from programs that increase awareness and acceptance.

I needed one the last time I flew and had a full-blown autistic meltdown, complete with head banging and inability to speak/comprehend spoken words.

Our company has been moving towards large communal spaces instead of offices. A lot of us have been having problems adjusting, in large part because of the added stimuli. I know that I frequently experience sensory overload, which in turn leads to more meltdowns and nonverbal episodes.

According to the Go Fund Me, she’s attending trauma therapy. The assault also resulted in the destruction of her sound equipment; she’s self-employed and unable to work.

A common characteristic of abusers is blaming others for their actions and feelings. Threats of self-harm and suicide are often used to manipulate and control partners. The likelihood of homicide is significantly greater when this occurs.

As completely unhinged as this woman appears, I wonder if claiming that she was attempting to drive them off of the road undermines the core complaint: that she, and many other Americans, stand to lose their health insurance if any variation of the AHCA passes.

I find that most people are not interested in making accessible products until they themselves need it.
