Former Roman Catholic (I probably identify most as deist than anything these days) of Irish descent living in the United States here, and I definitely had an infinity for Mary more than I did anything else. I don’t know if it’s common of the faith or because I had a series of priests who were very focused on Mary.

Absolutely my pleasure. And, if it relates, as a female autistic the vast majority of my friends have have been men. I found that my lack of cognitive empathy was less important among men than women. However, I have in recent years (I’m 35; diagnosed at 20/21) been able to cultivate friendships with other women.

So it is compulsive, your reasoning while not illogical it is kinda hard for us as a species that prefered standing rather than going on fours. If I may ask again sorry, lets say you go up in fours, don’t you get some kind of fixation on getting your hands dirty?

I think that it has to do with a lack of emotional empathy/sympathy.

I’d also point out that empathy — at least from a clinical/medical standpoint — describes both the ability to discern people’s emotions (cognitive empathy) and the ability to feel sympathy for other people (emotional empathy).

From my understanding, people convicted of sexual assault tend to be repeat offenders regardless of if they’ve been convicted of the crime or not. I’m not sure how much of that is related to character or upbringing or even genetics as opposed to a culture that assumes that rape isn’t serious, isn’t really Bad™, or…
