I don’t think you understand the intricacies of bullfighting or the culture and tradition it attempts to preserve. Your example is an over-simplification. Nor do you understand the overarching themes of the bullfight the bravery and courage it displays.

The bravery of the man and bull and the way the matador must control the animal is beautiful to me yes. There is no doubt it is tragic but that is its appeal the tradegy.

No explanation for it that I know just part of the tradition. They want to bloodlines as aggressive as possible. The most aggressive bulls are actually the least dangerous in bullfighting and are the best for working with.

That doesn’t solve anything merits are still entirely relative.
