At least twice a year, I think about plunking down money for Dragon for Mac, but for at least every 2 "it's great!" stories, I hear at least 1 "it's useless" story.
Is it accurate? Short learning curve? Long learning curve? Anyone have any personal anecdotes or recommendations?
He's got a Macbook Air and Dragon

Scrivener is as deep or as simple as you desire it to be. I waited until it was available in one of the Humble Indie Bundles or some sort to purchase it. Great community, great software, absolutely worth checking it out. I recently made the jump from writing fiction to non-fiction, and Scrivener didn't even miss a

No big whoop, my friend.

I finally ended up deleting it. There was at least a 5-15 second lag between hitting a button and execution. Also, each time you fire it up, it comes up with a No Items message, then goes out and loads your calendar and reminders, which accounts for at least another 10 second delay. It's GORGEOUS, and there is a

I'm on a 16GB 4s.

Bought it, but not sure how long it's going to be on my phone. SO. SLOW. Buyer beware before plunking down your 2 dollars.

You mention that having a lot of tabs can bring Chrome to a crawl, but is it the same with Extensions? Would going from 5 extensions installed to say, 10 or 12 also impact Chrome's speed?

1) A C: prompt

As a new user, it asks for access to your calendar (no worries) and contacts (no thank you). It won't let you proceed any further unless you give it access to both. I guess I'll be deleting it, which is sad, because it looks gorgeous.

I really love this series (I say that almost every week) and I really love it when the folks being questioned don't skimp on their answers.

Now THIS one was aces. Definitely going to check out the book linked to above. I hate it when people scrimp on the answers to the questions, but James really delivered. Also, is it just me or does that Go player look like John Carradine as Dracula?
Oh. Just me? Okay.

I love my PS3 and PS3 Media Server, but I really wish that there was something with a prettier better interface, like Plex. Sure you can use Plex Media Server instead of PS3 media server, but the interface is still ugly.

Sent my email to the tips inbox this morning. Let's discuss jailbreaking and 'blobs'. I'm going to assume that the ghost of Steve McQueen is involved unless told otherwise.

I have an old Mac Mini that's still performing quite well under Snow Leopard, but I will say that adding new RAM and a larger capacity hard drive was akin to playing "Operation".

I cut the cord over a year ago. I currently use Netflix, HuluPlus and a Mohu HDMI antenna. They each have their weaknesses and shortcomings. With Netflix, it's selection. With HuluPlus, it's the fact that even though I am PAYING for it, I STILL have to watch commercials. With the Mohu antenna, it's bad weather :)

It's about time a Lifehacker writer showed some Trello love. Between it, Evernote, GDocs, GCal and my iPhone Habit List app, I can conquer the world, or at least my little corner of it.

Thank you for your kind response, Jamie, I appreciate it. Looking forward to reading the archives of your column.

Just how does Evernote handle PDFs? If I upload a PDF to Evernote, can I then, later, download that PDF to my computer? Or does Evernote somehow change the file format for quicker use? Thanks!

Installed + Stock = 75. On iTunes, in total, less than 100.
