I grew up in rural TN and riding a bike was NOT an option. The narrow two lane road had no shoulders either and the very edge of the road had a ditch. There was also a rock quarry down the road and the trucks were too large to fit meaning the edges of the roads were constantly getting damaged. One day I was waiting…

When I lived in NJ, i used to ride my bike almost everywhere as long as the weather was nice.
