That’s what I figure. My boyfriend’s family owns a Model S and a decade-old Land Cruiser, and the former is perfect for the commute while the latter is the Tahoe ski trip-mobile. Getting a new BEV to supplement an existing ICE car is really the best way to go if you’re in a position to afford it. Hell, even a cheap

Same experience with Range Rovers.

Agreed. We’ve had four Range Rovers since ‘99 RR P38, (‘07 RR, ‘19 Velar, ‘22 Velar), and they are a bit expensive to maintain, but no real heartache. My ‘19 Velar had several fuel and water pump software gremlins, but seem to have been fixed in the ‘22. They’ve been very reliable, maybe not as rock solid as my Lexus,

Pretty myopic view they have.

IMHO-US consumers do very little preventative maintenance beyond changing the oil.

I daily a Porsche Taycan, but out of all the “regular” cars from a non-luxury brand, I think this is one of the best looking cars on the road. I’d 100% take this over a similarly priced entry-level luxury car like a BMW 2-Series or Mercedes CLA. When a Honda is this good, it renders the Acura brand largely pointless.

Recently picked up the ‘22 2.0T Sport. It’s a hoot. Surprisingly quick, the adaptive cruise control is amazing, and everything just seems to work well. The new ‘23 looks goofy to my eyes.

100% that. We usually are serial lessees but we had a 2019 full-size Range Rover which was $105k new. Lease ended last year and the new 2023 RR was just so overpriced and hard to find in a regular normal spec (we’re talking $50k markups and at least $2,500 lease payments). Since our 2019 buyout was $63k, and it’s

The last point is where I am at. My vehicles have basically all the modern features you could want, and they are 2015 and 2017. I did feel a huge upgrade going from a mid 2000's with no center screen to these newer vehicles, but new cars today have basically the same stuff as my 2015, no major leaps in tech other than

I wonder how many folks who leased shortly before Covid found themselves with a relatively cheap buyout in the last 12 months and just decided to buy the car outright. My parents were in that boat with a 3 year old Q5 that had like 12k miles on it. The pre-determined buyout price made it a steal.

Where would people get this idea???

Oh I missed this. My automotive highlight of 2022 wasn’t the fanciest or most expensive car I drove this year but it was unexpected. Some close friends of ours came over for way too much wine and left their car overnight. I naturally offered to drive it back to their home the following morning. The car in question - a

I am surprised the Escalade nameplate hasn’t spawned a spin-off range of products in its 20+ year existence. Could pull a Land Rover with Escalade, Escalade Sport etc.

Are those chrome wheels?

I’m old enough to remember when MB had tastefully crafted interiors.

They are definitely a signifier of “old money” where I live.

That’s not a starter car! That’s a finisher car!

Think the color you’re looking for is British Racing Green. These were hideously unreliable, but damn did I love my family’s Discovery. We had a 1998 in that same, beautiful darker green, and plenty of sideways trunk seat memories along with it.

I’m going to take a guess that you live in South Florida. Am I right?

These two made a baby.
