Shit has happened before, but it is not happening now. I am confident that it will not happen in the future, I mean look at it not happening now!
A base Golf is still a fun car. They have a nicer pedal feel and roll on acceleration than you’d expect. I had one back in 2009, when I couldn’t really afford nice stuff. But a base Golf was a good car then, and it was a nice car. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t fast, but I did enjoy it on the curvy back roads of…
I’ve just realized that one of the reasons the Porsche looks so good compared to all other EV’s is that they’ve always been designing cars with next to no front grille.
There is very little on a Porsche lot I’d consider buying these days, but given I had the cash laying around to plonk down on anything with a Porsche crest, you can bet it would be this.
The Audi Etron GT will essentially be this car in a cheaper Audi dress. If they can get it right it'll be a winner.
100% agreed. And if you’re making a list of brands that could transition into a Porsche competitor (think Macan and Cayenne) very very few options would fit the bill. And I personally think Corvette as a brand is about as perfect as it can get. Now it’s just up to GM to create a competitive product
At the end of the day, SUV’s sell, have larger margins and can still fit within a brand’s lineup. Look at the Macan and Cayenne, the Urus (accounted for over half of all Lambo’s sold), and the DBX.
Spoiler: This is because it’s a car.
I wonder if it has anything to do with it not being an SUV in any sense of the word?
Well it’s a car so...
Well their first mistake is calling it an SUV.
America is a nation divided along many lines these days, but I believe we can all come together as one and agree, regardless of race, political leanings, age, or gender, that these new BMW designs are awful. This could be what saves the country from falling apart.
We’re still here. 2 things can be true at the same time. We can be horrified that cars are this expensive AND we can love the fun ones.
Where have all the people that love cars on Jalopnik gone? Every comment section seems to keep harking back to judgement about how other people spend their money or finance their cars. I am sick of the “If you lease a car that’s stupid. I lived in my mother’s basement eating baked beans for 20 years so I can afford…
Every comment I’ve posted in this thread has had some variation of “do what you want, live and let live”. I know people have different degrees of risk tolerance. If you know and accept that you’re likely (not definitely) giving up returns in exchange for a safer risk profile, what business is that of mine?
You have no idea what I can afford. But that ignorance aside, here’s a couple of points of math that you may not consider:
Leasing a car that you’re going to use in your business is a great tax write-off. It’s much cleaner than buying a vehicle and writing it off due to the fact that you have to factor in depreciation over many years to fully realize your tax advantage. With a lease, you can write off the cost of the vehicle payments,…
