@wjglenn: Check out Gina's Programmer 101 feature here: [lifehacker.com] It's a pretty helpful guide to some good starting points. Personally, I'd tend toward Python. HTML is also useful and portable, even if it isn't really programming as such.

It's a good list, but I'd make a recommendation for the iPod Touch users amongst us. Use FastEver. Because of the lack of 3G and a camera, most of your Evernote usage will be from text. You can save some items as favorites, but I find that FastEver does a great job of taking notes on the go.
I don't do anger cleaning as much as antsy-cleaning and tired-cleaning. I don't know what it is about exhaustion but it makes me feel like throwing things out. Maybe if I stopped leaving them on my bed...
I'm still using PlanCake (open source is a big plus), but Nirvana looks pretty good. It's a bit more polished, which is always a plus.
Not a bad idea, really. The problem remains that you have train yourself not to use your iPad, but that's where work sprints come in.
@icecreamman: I've been getting much faster and more accurate by doing 750 Words every morning (750words.com). See Gina's writeup for why it's awesome.
@comodidit: I really liked it, too. My friends and I had a debate about whether it was better or worse than The Matrix.
VOTE: PlanCake
I like the app tabs, and they have worked just fine for me so far, but my Tab Candy seems to be missing. I like that a lot more than the app tabs, so there's a net loss so far.
@MkFly: It's Monaco, and yes, it is the default.
VOTE: Friends.
@jbarr: Check below for examples of other TOS. It's important to note that they are not limiting your rights. You are granting them a license, which is different than limiting or losing your rights. It seems typical for this sort of service, and unlikely to do more than cause you to have more relevant (and possibly…
@jupigare: Good point. Our dorms have plenty of desk space for a desktop and the assorted peripherals, but we don't have keyboard drawers and so they are an ergonomic nightmare (much too high, even for someone 6' tall). Outlets are always hit or miss, I guess.
I like Evernote, but Simplenote is just speedier and slimmer. FastEver isn't bad, but its functionality isn't as good as Simplenote.
My favorite use of the Option key is to Option-click on a link to an mp3 file that plays in your browser. Direct downloads are the best.
VOTE: Simplenote
I am among those in favor of desktops for college students. While I am perfectly satisfied with my MacBook, there are countless times I wish I had a desktop running certain apps and making my files available from a central location, as some of my friends do. I get by with Dropbox, Evernote, Gmail, and Simplenote,…
I tend to prefer Philip Glass or the Braid soundtrack, especially for papers or long-term assignments. A brief interlude of John Coltrane or Sonny Rollins helps keep things interesting.
@simonbarsinister: A good point. I've done the import into NV and found it painless, but I don't know about ResophNotes. Let me know if you find something better (I'm moving to a new computer in a few months and want to weigh my other OS options).
@simonbarsinister: Q1: Not inherently. But Notational Velocity lets you store your notes in .txt, .rtf, or encrypted files (and so, I imagine does Nottingham).
