@geekening: Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to use it.

Why yes, Mr. Gordon, I do have a hankering. I'm going to install this when I get home from work and give it a try. I'd love to incorporate my Google stuff into my scripts (storing document backups in Google Docs automatically, anyone? I'm sure you can do it another way, but still) and I bet they would work well with

@AmphetamineCrown: That was the big problem that my marathon group had. The lengthy Frodo/Gollum scenes were designated bio breaks.

I'm going to the Jersey shore this weekend (Wildwood, specifically). Anything there I must see?

I'm a big fan of forcing HTTPS. I already use it for Gmail and have bookmarked the secure Google search, but this extension will make it even better.

@fritzk3: The wireless thing was the same deal for me. I use a MacBook, and Mint seemed to handle the switchover much better. I haven't used it long enough to run out of space, but it's definitely something to keep in mind.

@bdinger: You speak the truth. Never want to use any other laptop stand.

@styfle: I find that Bean is great for a snappy editor. It has become my go-to doc editor for most writing, but I always need to check the formatting in NeoOffice first if I'm writing for school and using footnotes or something weird (a bit of a drag). I don't think it's a total replacement, but 80% of the time it

I use NeoOffice and Google Docs on my Mac, but that's for school and personal items. Work stuff gets done on a full Office suite, but that isn't something I pay for.

I have the exact same Rain Designs MacBook stand. Not only is it a solid laptop support, its height is great for a 6' guy and the design is superb. Highly recommended for long-term laptop use.

I usually am a first adopter of software updates, but after the last update borked my setup I've become more cautious. On the plus side, the borked update taught me how to do a manual update. While it's not exactly difficult, it's still important to know and not something we lazy bloggers are likely to do without a

@Ryan Nevius: True indeed. I like Ubuntu just fine, but for my needs (and hardware, which can be a big distro factor) Mint has worked out the best. Neither one was a bad choice for me, though, and I'd even go so far as to say the setup was easier for both distros than for any Windows work I've done.

I generally prefer bookmarklets to extensions but definitely fall prey to the clutter problem. I think the only problem with Bookmarklet Combiner is that I'm likely to start grouping my bookmarklets in different bundles for various functions and end up with more or less the same amount of clutter.

@Kevin Purdy: Thanks!

@Valsodarg: An excellent point! I stand corrected.

I'd switch if my bank stopped offering free checking. Of course, I use a local credit union, and I find them much easier to deal with on the whole than a larger bank, so it might not be worth the hassle to switch. Even better, my credit union has a partnership with my employer, which means the benefits I get through

I should make a smaller version of this for my iPod Touch. It would be even better if you included the standard dust cloth as a liner on the front cover, to prevent scratching.
