To be fair, I haven't seen a 318ti in years that didn't have an M3 drivetrain swapped into it. It almost seems manditory. That 4 cylinder was anemic so its totally understandable. And ironically, the M3 engine is cheaper to service than the 4 banger. Also, it bolts right up.
