Gizmodo, PLEASE stay out of the AntiSec story. You clearly don't have your facts straight. It was a group that considered themselves the brazillian LulzSec, and there was no cooperation with LulzSec with this other than that LulzSec organized the AntiSec movement and these guys decided to support it.

He has IPs, but those IPs are wrong since LulzSec has tools that can hide their IP. Things like VPN and proxies and such all make this pretty easy.

They release info because they think it's funny. They perform hacks to prove a point.

They do a lot of it to be funny, but they take it to such an extreme as they do to convince people to try to be more secure

What they're trying to do is make people realize how much of a joke cyber security is. If someone buys a laptop with cash, then hacks someone else's wi-fi, they can use that connection to hack, and have 0 chance of getting caught.
