Always fun to go back and reread the comments of that one. Not a good look for many people, especially the author.

We’ve come a long way since “‘Is the UVA Rape Story a Gigantic Hoax?’ Asks Idiot.”

Even in the article you linked, there were barely any comments and only two proclaiming undying love for her. If you’re a big fan, you find ways to bring up your faves and I just don’t see people doing that when it comes to her...until they needed to protect her from the Coachella meanies.

It’s niche knowledge (comparatevly to a POC) of an 80's british songwriter, calm down

I have ten years on you and didn’t know who she was until I moved to the UK on the early 00s. I was not exposed to her growing up in the Midwest US, maybe people in other places were?

Definitely a major influence on Tori Amos, and a lot of the same fan base, i.e. gay dudes and crunchy 90s feminists (not meant to be an insult, I am a huge fan of both of them).

Yeah, I mean, I am no music expert, but it’s not like I’ve never heard anything outside of the various Now That’s What I Call Music Vol 1-xxxxxx. I had never heard of her before yesterday’s post. Checked out some of her tracks on YouTube and found it to be...not my cup of tea.

Just glad to not be alone. I learned of her years ago because Maxwell covered her song. I remember, at the time, some site (maybe this one, maybe TWOP) calling his version vastly inferior so I gave hers a listen and, while I don’t doubt her creative talents, I don’t enjoy her voice at all.

Maybe it’s a white thing, I dunno either! I was reading the previous post about this and I was like

You’re not alone. I’m more than 10 years older than you and I’m also lost.

I’m calling ba-bullshit on this whole episode

Yeah it’s not her scene at all.

LOL Have you ever been on the Internet?

That’s way harsh, Tai. There are a lot of great commenters on those sites, and besides, we have our fair share of racists and misogynists over here, too.

o . . . kay

I assume the other party in the murder suicide was a grizzly bear.

Ahh. Purple drank I have heard of. It still mystifies me, but I’ve at least heard of it.

Because this is America in 2017. We lent the airlines billions of dollars to help them stay in business after September 11th, most of which has never been paid back, and this is how they treat paying customers now.

If only there were some way to keep airlines from selling more seats than are physically available in a plane.

Nice try Beyonce, we know it’s you.
