I’m struck by the similarities between the spin put on gun violence and that put on rape culture. The right always leans on this bogeyman stranger intending to do harm to you and your family rather than the inconvenient truth that violence is more often perpetrated by the devils we know.

I’m not so sure. Backup camera is laughably easy, airbags could be done for minimal effort, and then all it needs to do is aim for “bare minimum” safety regulations. I doubt anyone is buying a featherweight sports car looking for a five star safety rating.

Telling children who to hug is big issue for me. A couple I love dearly are always telling their kids to hug Auntie/Uncle So&So goodbye, and when it comes to me I always tell them they don’t have to.
