A short list of things that really oughtn’t be left up to the for profit sector- Medicine, Education, Space Flight. When there’s money to be made there’s every incentive to cheap out. Some things you shouldn’t cheap out on.

Given the makeup of the SCOTUS, I’d say it’s a little late to “do what they can,” we’re going to be dealing with this for awhile. Sure, you can elect whomever, but Supreme Court Justices retire/die in their own time.
