Your Amazon/MS comparison is incorrect and has been debunked before.
The second and third paragraphs of the article sum up the crux of the argument and rely on verifiable fact. The article is too long and goes too wide, sure, but those two paragraphs are key.
Perhaps you think there’s nothing wrong with the contractor structure, and how nice for you if that’s the case. But the finance…
My (former) taxi company is a 70 year old, driver owned co-op. Are you employing that our business model wasn’t inherently more fair to our drivers?
That’s some good trolling.
I’ve learned to be concerned about where my money goes lately, so it’s kind of a relief to see Google putting a fraction of their profits towards something I can agree with. The list of Corporations I’m willing to support keeps shrinking daily..
I looked at the schedule posted in this article and immediately thought: “That’s what pretty much every worker out there does.”
I am ex-military, so I used to be in really great shape until my thyroid was cooked by the nuclear ship I served on via radiation leak.
Likely because “package recovery” is not a large department at USPS, so the USPS doesn’t have a lot of resources in finding lost packages. I read a user’s comment in the original Kotaku article where the USPS simply compensated the user after the user filed the claim without even trying to look for the lost item.
Why did it take media coverage for USPS to get off their ass and fix the problem they caused?
I have to agree with this. I tend bar during open mic comedy night, and it’s not that the jokes about race/rape/whatever are offensive, it’s that they’re NOT FUNNY. Which makes them offensive. Just being “edgy” for the sake of it is not funny. You can’t just go up and tick off all the boxes (Rape joke? Check! Race…
Exactly. What PewDiePie did - and what so many of the Youtube folks (and amateur comedians in general) do - was simply lazy. It wasn’t clever, ironic or thought provoking. It was just lazy “let me see if I can get them to do something demonstrably terrible because they are so poor and desperate... as a joke”
Still…
The difference is: being funny.
Yeah, welcome to the entertainment world. Using ideas other people first came up with is pretty much the standard since the dawn of the written word. We wouldn’t have most music, movies and books if that were the case. Don’t blame others for taking your idea and making it more entertaining.
Freedom of Speech doesn’t protect you from another US Citizen saying “I don’t like the thing you are saying.” It protects you from the government locking you in jail cause you said that thing. The guy who tackled the flag waving racist went to jail and paid a fine. There was no government action against the flag…
I understand what you are saying, but I’d imagine that to a black person, a white guy waving the Confederate flag is a message of “I wish that you black people were once again property of white people.”
Runner here, but I fully support this website. While the average cheater may be some dude just moving up a few spots in a race, if you are competing for a top spot you may be taking prize money (and age group or overall awards).
I dunno about paid. Why pay for it when you can totally get that for free? Racist cowards are everywhere, especially on the internet.
Why is KaylaSez ungreyed on the Root? Look that this person’s comment history. They have a history of making racist comments. For real, paid trolls are on Kinja. This is no joke.
