It’s likely that they’ll agree to let it go in exchange for the plaintiffs’ not appealing. There's no way Cinemark is so hard up for cash that it's worth the effort of going after these poor people.

the disgrace was the families suing in the first place. Just because a few people on comment boards and social media feel bad doesn’t mean you can do whatever the fuck you want legally. They hired ambulance chasing lawyers, turned down a hefty generous settlement offer, and then lost on it. PR? Fuck that. Don’t file

Won’t bother me or (I’m guessing) the majority of cinema-goers.

I dunno, they gave the plaintiffs a pretty good settlement offer considering that they were already found not liable in state court.

Not really. Hopefully people will think twice next time an ambulance chasing lawyer calls them.

Very Different scenarios, also. different editors, different time and different site...hmmm

Legally forcing a woman to strip at gun point. Great job supposedly enlightened and advanced Western civilization.

I wonder how many conservatives can’t see their own hypocrisy as they support something like this while at the same time demanding “religious freedom” laws that allow people to comply with a “sincerely held religious belief?”

Anything less than 20% and she’d have to pay PMI. And that’s just for us poors when we buy our first place. ;)

Actually — for a conventional loan you only need 5%
The 20% down payment is to get out of paying mortgage insurance

The FHA percent is more like 3%, but the appraisal process is much stricter

And, VA you can do as little as 0% — so — yeah

if you couldn’t guess, I am in the process of purchasing :D

And here my boyfriend and I spent the past 9 years putting away half of our paychecks every month to save up to buy a house, and we considered ourselves very privileged.

Sorry for the belated reply - was in court, then out bourbon tasting.

Thanks for all the supportive comments, it’s unexpected and nice. I’ll tell my mom to read them.

Definitely Hulk effect. Given Theil’s support of the RNC/Trump and that he destroyed Gawker, is their any way that the interview could be viewed as impartial?

Easy solution - all she needs is a very small loan from her father of about $1 million to tide her over...

Does anyone know if this is a fine imposed on anyone else for the same crime?

Did you miss the part where a Brazilian judge said that filing a false report was “not that serious” down there? The swimmers were dumb, but you can’t just impose arbitrary penalties like seizing passports and now this ludicrous $11k extortion. It’s you who is treating Brazil like some third-world, lawless land.

No, he is not. A fine would be paid to the judiciary: he is being made to donate to a judo school.
