It’s funny to me how gasoline is getting the same bad rap as diesel and those horrendous two stroke scooters. Europe subsidizes diesel (mileage, yay!) through taxes, does nothing about two strokes (boggles the mind), then chokes on the fumes. Ha! Whenever I’m in Europe, I think, “It’s the diesel, stupid.”

Those wheels are tragic, and evidence of poor decision making skills.

Can the thing get out of its own way? Where does it fall on the ponderous scale?

I don’t have that lying between the cushions of my couch, and I literally help every one I can, with what assistance I can lend. I just don’t do it for likes. But that’s my choice, I know.

I really want this.

I used up my weekly hot annoying take yesterday, so I’m going to sit this one out and just read...

No, but I typically at least walk/jog 3miles every morning for shits and giggles, then commute 30-45mins, then work 12 hrs, then commute back, then crash and do it again 5 or six days a week. Doesn’t make me special. Granted, not in Texas, but in LA which is a hell of it’s own kind.

Look, this is a great addition to the story. And, yes, it makes the heartstrings sing a brighter song. I wonder though, why wan’t any of this color in the OP? Is it too much to ask that the ‘journalists’ do a little more than text-ape a 30 local news spot? Like pick up a phone?

Yeah, this kind of economics worked really well in Seattle.

I wasn’t poo-pooing the act, really. I’m sure it will be great for him, and I’m glad it’s a Camry - because he’s got to be able to run the thing. I guess I donned my troll hat because I’m of two minds on this. It’s a nice thing to do, and in some ways it’s heartening to see that a three mile walk to work is all it

Who’s going to buy him the straps, though?

It was an interesting exercise to see what facet of my personality gets traction here.

I actually said it’s a nice move. And, yeah I’m trolling, but what I’m taking issue with is what we’re defining as hardship, the self aggrandizing social media ‘look at my good works’ dipshittery, and the lather being worked up over it. Life is tough all over. Also, it’s a Camry, but I hope it has a good warranty.

This is the correct hot-take, and much more civil than mine! All this self aggrandizing social media whore drama about a guy that had to walk to work because he was saving up for a car. True charity is anonymous.

The dude definitely needs wheels, I’m just being an asshole about what counts for a heroic struggle these days. (This is my lawn after all.) You remember the story a few years ago about the guy who walked something like 10 miles each way through the woods in upstate New York year round to get to a factory job? That

As I said elsewhere, the time is basically a normal crappy commute. Texas is definitely hot as balls, though. I would venture to say, however, that the sweatiness of the guy making your chalupa should be the least of your worries. Who know what goes on ‘back there’ or what, exactly, is in your chalupa.

Truth.

Seriously! This is a case where Miata is a much better answer!

I’ll give you Texas and a qualified ‘agreed’ to the weather, but still, the distance is insignificant - and the same time-suck as a fairly normal commute.

That’s what they make rain gear for.
