I'll happily pay $40+ for an MMO's expansion (as well as a monthly fee) for not only what's presented upon the expansion's release but for all the other content that is patched in throughout its lifespan. $20 for a meager amount of content for a game which is stale enough as is? There's a dungeon journal that tells you about their mechanics, yes. There are also tons of online sources that do the same. Regardless, there's a big difference between knowing the fight and being able to apply what you know to the actual boss and beat it.
