@Audiyoda: Completely agree. Pitting Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro against Windows Movie Maker and iMovie is not a valid comparison.
Digg stopped being interesting some time ago. It's lost most of the intelligent community it once had. It was a neat experiment, but it's a demonstration of why editors are important and why mob-mentality is bad.

@bradL: I'd say go prefab. I've build a number of computers over the years and it no longer seems cheaper, if you want a modicum of quality. I can get a decent Dell tower for the same price or less as a similarly spec'ed custom rig.

Haven't tried the latest version of Spicebird, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the last version I tried. It sounds like a duplication of Thunderbird 3, which will have many similar features.

I just zip up my profile folder and take that with me. Never had a problem. Is there a reason this might be problematic?
@SanjulaCushy: I actually use TightVNC in Wine because Vinagre doesn't do scaling. It's set to get it in the future.

This sounds like the "recommended playlist" option in Amarok that uses MusicBrainz to find relationships and generate playlists on the fly.
