I think you're forgetting the history and continuing existence of (predominantly) female sex slavery. Plus, references to JARVIS and Jeeves only demonstrate the gender divide. A male assistant is typified by being a British butler. A female assistant is simply female because it needs no other justification.

I imagine their next story will be as far away from true crime as they can get. The original conceit of the show (before it blew up in popularity) was broader than that. They really can't do two true crime stories in a row without makign that the expectation for the rest of the podcast.
