I wonder if that was a big part of why that was a strike, because hostile management and poor compensation were driving away talent and making life - both professional and personal - significantly more difficult for the remaining staff.

Sweet, I get to use this again.

The United States never, not for one minute of the pandemic, had any sweeping federal mandates. There’s nothing to even protest in D.C.

Minority government right now: There is no one party with enough power to act on a whim, they have to convince a second party to go along with the plan.

These guys broke the laws and should be punished accordingly, via the normal judicial process of the country. There is no need to go beyond into legal gray area and punitive actions.

My personal opinion is that blocking highways should be illegal in all circumstances, that protestors should have been jailed the first day they did so, and that the weak initial response to this protest is what gave it life. A stronger response would have prevented a multi-week blockade in the first place.

Genuinely curious, what do you think is the appropriate way to handle a multi-week blockade of these daily activities?

Yes, it is terribly different. These people spent weeks occupying roads, shutting down businesses, and harassing/threatening locals. Despite all that, they were given numerous warnings and ample time to clear out of their own accord. That’s nothing like cops pulling you over, saying “I smell weed,” and then just

I’m pretty OK with this precedent being set. They were allowed to gather, demonstrate, and use mobile barricades (trucks) for two weeks. Then they were given several days to disperse and remove all barricades after which stragglers would be arrested and barricades seized. That sounds more than reasonable and fair to

3rd Gear: Elon Musk uses his social media like a fourteen year old edge lord and I hate it so god damn much.

It is a cheap hybrid and a cheap truck and a cheap car. There was no scenario where it wasn’t going to succeed.

That’s a lot of money that’s not going to the people that made it possible for Bezos to have the boat in the first place.

Having recently rented a wedding venue, I can say that $1300 / hr is pretty well in line with a nicely appointed rustic barn or a decent urban event space. Catering and bar costs stack on top of that.

Fair. I’m in Alberta so the rules are different.

Ooh tough guys - in reality too chickenshit to get a prick.

I don’t agree to participate in a medical experiment in which a deadly, novel virus spreads through the population like wildfire, rather than taking simple, proven measures to slow the spread of disease, such as wearing a covering over my mouth and nose when indoors to prevent respiratory droplets from spreading

Unless they are gay or don’t believe in white Jesus or a woman. Then you all seem to have no problem telling them what they cannot do.

They have been calling them the Flu Trucks Klan up here.
