Yep I think they covered it when David said she was compassionate. Clearly she thought through the risk of showing David humanity/compassion to gain his loyalty over whatever curiosity he has.

What does she have to lose though? Her entire life led to this moment. What is she supposed to do, fly the Engineer’s ship which may or not contain more contamination back to Earth?

Doesn’t it just potentially prove the usage of tools, not humans? Pretty big leap to go to humans when there is no other record. Wouldn’t it be just as plausible that some long extinct species figured out tools?
