It almost feels like from reading this piece, that the writer has forgotten that it was a scripted movie, not a real life person or sequence of events.

Because as employees making a low wage, they really shouldn’t have to choose between cleaning up shit (which is dangerous) and quitting their job. Managing the homeless population is not the job for Starbucks employees, nor is it a job for Starbucks corporate leadership. It’s the government’s job and they aren’t doing…
A child that young should not be sporting a nose ring (even if it is temporary) or fake hair. She should be dressing like a kid. She shouldn’t be at a fashion show. She should be playing with friends her own age. Generational narcissism is a thing and I can see it being handed down here, once again. Superb parenting.
It amazes me that the people slinging the most misogyny are the supposedly the most progressive people commenting. And, yes minimizing white women is still misogyny. You want allies yet I have seen people on here attack women who are white, and older women. It’s nuts.
Just because it doesn’t directly impact you doesn’t make it trivial.
Of all the comments you have made, this is easily the worst. So we shouldn’t advocate for or be passionate about causes that don’t impact us?? With that logic, I guess anyone who is straight should withdraw any support for the LGBTQ community. I don’t have a pet, so I won’t bother myself with issues around animal…
Don’t forget ageist!
So you want to advocate for language that is not divisive and all inclusive, except for women who are straight and white. Mmmmkay.
I haven’t given it much thought because I don’t really think that is a common complaint. It would be ridiculous to define womanhood by the ability to reproduce. Or “manhood” for that matter.
You are making a very logical and solid point and I am not necessarily disagreeing with you. But I also think its a very sensitive time for women in general, and really important not to eliminate the word women when describing issues that primarily impact women.
You are right. Not all women can give birth. Not all women menstruate, and womanhood should not be defined by those things. However the VAST majority of those giving birth and menstruating are biological women. That is not an opinion, it is a fact. It’s important not to forget that fact when talking about reproductive…

Did you read the Op Ed? It lays out some pretty compelling examples.
Well said. Thank you. And I like your use of “And”, which is far more inclusionary than eliminating the word woman.
The New York Times Op Ed actually made some really fantastic points and everyone should give it a read. It’s not merely about using inclusive language, its about basically eliminating an entire gender, one that has already struggled for equal rights throughout history. Both sides can be wrong.
It used to be my guiltiest pleasure!
CDAN also wrote about Epstein’s Lolita Express, Prince Andrew and the Clintons more than a decade before it was a more widely known thing. I often think its a strange, conservative conspiracy site, but some of what they have written about is true. The quality of the site has diminished significantly over the past 5…
Huh? Hate to dwell on a tiny, somewhat insignificant point of your statement, but I am right handed and parted my long hair on the left for the last 25 years? That is kind of a weird generalization based on zero scientific evidence. She usually parts her hair on the right, sure? But let’s not make a silly…
I’m pretty disgusted that they filmed it too, and decided to air it on the show. Way too much for a child to process.
I agree with you about demonizing people suffering from disorders. And that sucks. I also dated another man who I found out later was diagnosed BDP, and while he still struggled he was very self aware and had undergone therapy and was very kind to me and never abusive. But you know what? We also need to care for the…
