If intelligence, skills, fairness, really mattered in today’s politics Elizabeth Warren would be the front runner by miles. If community self interest was the deciding principle on how Black people voted, Warren would be ahead by miles. Sadly she and Sanders are basically in the same lane and Bernie is winning. And of

Well put. I don’t know why people don’t get this. Trump is bombastic while Bloomberg is slick & more calculating, making him particularly pernicious & more dangerous.

Quite an impressive & encouraging list in terms of grassroots activism. Glad to see Tamika Mallory’s name, interesting. Sistahs Mabre Stahly Butts & Monifa Bandele are grassroots as hell and fighting as hell. People’s Republic of Brooklyn is well represented: I remember when Mark Winston Griffith (shout out to Crown

Nothing to disagree with and an important caution.

LOL, I just know that about now this article is making the rounds among the debate moderators & sponsors (CBS, CBC?). I just know it.

What a beautiful, loving, and generous Sistah; always gave back to the community. RIP. She’s in the embrace of our ancestors now.

Bloomberg, the racist, sexist, fascist piece of shit still has some black faces making the media rounds vouching for his character, integrity/he has apologized”, “I know his heart”, blah blah blah blah... what a disgrace!

The sad part for me is how deeply Bloomberg’s money has and is corrupting black politics. I know in American politics it’s all about ‘the benjamins’, but this is too much. The more you read about it, the more distressing it gets.

Great reminder and info on Fred Hampton. And there’s no doubt that the mindset and forces arrayed against the Black Panthers & Fred Hampton are with us today and up to the same mischief. You are probably on their radar, with every article & essay closely examined and filed as subversive. I don’t think i’m exaggerating.

I meant to be rhetorical since I pretty much know all there is to know about Bloomberg from research and personal experience.

You are correct and I was there. So how do you explain those high profile NYC personalities like Rev Calvin Butts, Goeffrey Canada, Gregory Meeks etc. who continue to shill for Bloomberg? That’s the real sad part.

Thank you Elizabeth Warren, it was a beautiful performance; it was poetry; it was calypso music. On a certain level you stopped & frisked his candidacy much like he did to us on the streets of Brooklyn. Props to you!

“I’m not saying that all these poeple supporting Bloomberg are bought off but I can’t find a decent reasonable alternative theory to this bullshit.”

I still think Elizabeth Warren is the best out there and it’s not even close. Obviously the spat between herself & Sanders over a woman becoming president hurt her more than it did Bernie. But I am keeping hope alive.

I’m still hardcore Elizabeth Warren though things don’t look good right now. If it does not work out for Warren i’m jumping into the Bernie camp enthusiastically. Now if only we’d stop beating down on the guy.

I get your what you’re saying, I really do. And you may take some heat for it, but not from me.

Wow, the introduction and historical context is awesome! Too many of us view people like Mike Bloomberg as being separate from past/historical experiences, but the dots must always be connected to understand the threat these guys represent. History isn’t past, in terms of the Black experience.

Some of your history is off! Sure we must honor the Black women who started the BLM movement, but lets not forget there were other black activists, both male & female, who much earlier were involved in the fight against police brutality and whose names we don’t know. They also deserve props!

“You don’t understand how misogyny works in the Black community.” See, why would you say that? That’s nuts!

Sadly, much truth in your observation.
