Nah, this wasn’t about Kelly Mehlenbacher or her campaign’s lack of money. It was Kamala’s terrible criminal justice history which Tulsi Gabbard deployed as a wicked uppercut during one of the debates and from which she never recovered. Black folk saw thru Kamala Harris and didn’t buy her game; we refused to be

Julian Castro got a raw deal and one of the saddest things of this election cycle for me. But he gives hope for the future, especially within the democratic party, if he’s not corrupted.

Wow, history is really a bitch! Talk about putting things in context! Your critics, this time around, will have to dismiss or deny the history you’ve just laid out so effectively. Moderate politics or pragmatic idealism or whatever are basically codes for the continuation of status quo politics among black folks, with

it’s black bullshitism pretending to be art... google “Shutdown Slave Play” by a black female at change.org etc.....

Does not move me one way or the other: a stoopid reaction to a demeaning & wretched play. Must have hurt or surprised Jeremey O. Harris since his work is taylormade for the white gaze and grovels for the white embrace. A pox on them both!

I know these things tend to be subjective but it pisses me off when some Black critics go easy on black projects that are obviously subpar & crappy, and would elicit outrage were they coming from white creators. We’ve always had Black excellence even under trying times, why lower the bar/standard now? Also, why hail

She was an enabler during the Obama birther thing and remains an enabler, plus the “Be Best” thing was bullshit from day one...

“I believe with all my heart that you mean to be good and fair, and emotion has overtaken your sense of kindness and forgiveness. Generations of being treated unfairly can do that to people.”

“..this will become spin for Pete and somehow, someway Michael Harriot will eventually be labeled as the villain in all of this....”

Of course Buttigieg’s campaign called. I knew it would happen. He’s a democrat in desperate need of black support, so why not?

Distressing on so many levels.. and there’s a sort of casual yet unspoken deep contempt towards this young black woman, his girlfriend. Scary. How did so many of us get this way given our history?

And we have a right to point out their bullshit without apology!!

“But again, for the purists: those who crave a culturally accurate operatic rendering of this Egyptian King will likely be disappointed...”

Whew, what a relief! Good for him! Special shout out to Stephen!!

I think I know who you mean.. yeah, quite impressive.. I support that nomination.

Obviously stuff is going on at theRoot and i’m getting nervous & suspicious.

I am so hopeful about Stacey Abrams.. with so many posers out there, I find her very authentic.. we know damn well if Biden somehow manages to win the nomination Stacey Abrams is VP.. or bust!!

While making their promotional (media) rounds Debra Martin Chase, Cynthia Erivo, Kasi Lemmons made it a point to highlight that Harriet was mostly put together by Black women.. it was a selling point. However, from my current reading, I suspect Gregory Allen Howard was key in the creation of Bigger Long.

Go see it, especially if you have a deep interest in Black history & culture. I would not have seen it because of Cynthia Erivo’s presence in the project; She’s a bit hostile to Black Americans. A relative saw Harriet and insisted I see it, that’s how shocked she was by it.

For the record, I think it’s a big deal in terms of symbolism and how it will play throughout the diaspora having a Black woman on the American $20 bill. For that reason I support it. However I get those who see that representation as cruel irony in that Harriet Tubman and the other enslaved were indeed capital/owned
