After seeing what friends have gone through in custody battles with abusive men, I find that myth bizarre. It seems like the courts will go to great lengths to preserve a father’s access to a child, even if that father is abusive to the child and/or mother, and is using the legal process as a way to manipulate the

Sorry, no, this is absolute horseshit.

She can be a bad mother and he can still be a woman beating piece of shit. Two things can be true.

In fairness it’s a rare event because men don’t usually seek custody. When they do they do quite well winning about 50% of the time. But full custody? That’s unusual on either side. If a court gave one parent full custody despite these accusations? They saw some evidence.

You are correct. Women usually have custody because men usually don’t seek custody. It becomes a whole confirmation bias thing. When men seek custody they are virtually equally as likely to win as a woman. They just don’t even try to get it. Now that’s usually shared custody. To have a parent of either sex fully lose

I am sorry that your friend is having problems, but Slut Panic is right.

You are correct; last I read, the split is 53/47, with the 53% being the mother.

Well, in Oldman’s case, a judge’s ruling basically did that years ago.

Like any profession there are those that are damaged and not.

Gary Oldman went to court. The allegations and their credibility were weighed against his. He won. Now that decision may have been wrong, but the court knows far more information about Gary Oldam and Firentino’s relationship than any of us.

Honestly, I have such issues with this. Clearly, the system doesn’t work well to protect women, especially when the perpetrators are rich and famous. However, even if they are guilty, does that mean they can never work again? (Whether any individual chooses to not watch their movies, read their books, etc., is totally

Who else would want to put themselves through that amount of rejection while seeking that amount of approval?

Agreed. This issue has already been reviewed by a judge. Now, I’m no fan of law enforcement, but I’ll take the judge over a blogger. I don’t like the way we dismiss experts and believe every accusation automatically.

I don’t think that presumption of innocence is something that factors into a lot of these accusations given how easy it is for people in power to avoid having said accusations actually taken seriously and investigated.

I do know he used to be a raging alcoholic back then and since he sobered up changed his life completely. But yes he used to be an asshole. He is still an amazing actor and it was well deserved.

At some point, we can’t keep treating awards shows like the court of public opinion.

I thought going to Harvard made you an East Coast Elitist.

I think naming your kid Jared is just setting him up for brief fame followed by jail time.

This makes me laugh out loud every time I see it!

“Jared has no plans to leave.”
