And according to all the movies and tv shows, I’m pining for a baby to complete my life... or if I’m not (which I’m not) something profound will eventually make me change my mind to make me baby crazy

Frieda!

Regarding Mel Gibson - When that shitshow happened, Foster was about to release a film she had just directed that starred MG. I always had the feeling that she defended him in order to try to save what was left of that film, not because she believed it. Tough position to be in. I’m not totally defending her, but there

The Accused was based on a true story. I remember it vividly because I was living in the area where it happened during the trial. There was a lot of “well, what was she doing alone in that bar with those guys” bullshit at the time. I remember me and another nurse sitting one of the social workers down and explaining

I think it still is important now. But I totally agree that the way it’s too often used currently is very wrong.

I’ve seen shit like this a lot lately. Wearing my hair as it grows out of my head is “laziness”; choosing not to groom my pubic hair is “bold” or “defiant” (from a stupid buzzfeed style quiz); Having clean, unpolished toe nails are “brave”.

you cannot what with her anymore?

I was thinking the same thing. Minus the ‘darker than her usual makeup” that look is pure 1971 hip.

But The Accused is based on a true story. So... which tried and true tradition is she violating? Biopic? Rape-Revenge?

I got that every time I went to get mine cut. “Oh, such great curls, it must be nice...”. Truthfully it was mostly a pain in the ass.

If the timing is correct, that would date this photo around 1971. I can’t really get too bothered at this blackface-lite costume because it was 1971 and people didn’t even know what microaggressions were. I’m more flabbergasted by her willingness to pull this photo out and proudly show the world as if it’s totally

Gotcha.

Seriously, the less I do to my hair and skin, the more healthy it seems. My body is telling me to be lazy! It’s basically demanding it.

I leave my hair curly mostly out of laziness, but use it to feel better about how well I’m taking care of my hair long term. Other people can fry their hair all they want and power to them.

Or we could just not care.

God I miss the Winslows. Why couldn’t we bring that back instead of that spoiled-mayonnaise-sitting-in-the-sun-too-long Full House.

“...naturally curly hair is making a comeback” - oh goody for us. We get to be “in” for a short time until everyone goes back to what men like. Which is usually long and not judged “wild.” Surveys have shown that people peg curly haired women (especially WOC) as “easy” in first impressions. Bad hair/don’t care.

perfection.

I think some people are confused—Broadway’s Garry Marshall is a nickname I used for ALW. Garry Marshall did not weigh in on this feud.
