It was infuriating. If you don’t believe her, or don’t find it convenient to believe her, just say it. This “I think she was assaulted, but she doesn’t remember who did it” is bizarre and awful.

So SHE'S opportunistic because she was sticking to her guns when she said anyone in politics who has committed sexual assault should not be in politics? She was doing what we all should be doing: not have double standards"
Put her in the history books along with Anita Hill who faced a bunch of senators who questioned her character, along with public humiliation, in the name of doing what was right. You ladies deserve better.
Even though he was ultimately sworn in, I do think she helped change the fabric of our society and I am so grateful to her for her courage and also providing this update. I hope that once this settles, she is able to find joy and happiness in how much of an effect she has had on so many people.
I love her so much.
That woman is a goddamn hero.
Dr Christine Blasey-Ford is going to go into the history books as a courageous and honourable American hero. Her bravery as she faced those powerful, heartless, corrupt politicians and spoke the truth to the nation was remarkable. What an amazing human being. She deserves all the peace in the world.
May the universe grant us all a fraction of this woman’s strength and grace.
Well, now you have heard the breast one. Two women said he fondled their butts, not just one. Three women said he forced kisses on them. This isn’t about a guy who touched a woman’s side, and it’s not okay to frame it that way.
“he chose to not fight it because he also cared about Minnesota and recognized that having to fight the media, republicans, and democrats, on this was taking time away from his duties as an elected official.”
“(Some women said he touched her side when a photo was taken, fetch me my smelling salts!)“
But the entire point of this article is that “Gillibrand” didn’t handle it. It was a coordinated move involving more than two dozen Democratic senators who released coordinated statements, most of them virtually simultaneously (and it ended up being more like three dozen by the time Franken actually resigned).…
You invoke “due process” as though Franken said one thing and his accusers said another. But in fact, Franken admitted that everything they said was accurate, apologized, and resigned because he believed that it was the right thing to do. This wasn’t a “he said/she said” situation, this was a “she said, he agreed, he…
No matter who you are, you are more likely to be raped or killed by someone you know, mostly someone you know well like a family member, than by a stranger.
All he had to do was not resign. I’m kind of pissed that we’re sticking to this narrative of what Gillibrand did or didn’t do and ignoring what Franken did—not just grope, but quit. He quit. How is he not responsible even for his own resignation?
The biggest predators of women are their own husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, cousins. The people whose very welfare we spend our days obsessing about are our most vicious attackers. It is systematic, unrelenting femicide.
What Franken did was wrong, there’s no getting around that. What “level” of wrongness or seriousness is not, IMO, for me to judge. Multiple women came forward with credible testimonies of inappropriate context. It may suck that one of the accusers has since become a Hannity-funded stooge, and they’re all giddy that…
There’s nothing opportunistic about holding powerful people responsible. That’s one of the hardest things to do in politics.
What a small, terrified nation we have become.
