You're right, it took me a few episodes too. I almost aborted.

If you'd never seen Eccleston before (as I have not) you'd have no reason to think he was British. These actors today are so good with their accents. One of the best performances was Lydia in Breaking Bad played by Laura Fraser.

Life stories aren't a series of never-ending surprises. The show's ability to cycle on themes central to the concept of the show only deepens its flavor. If it were predictable and soap opera-ish (like Mad Men after season three) you might have a point.

This amazing show has the sense to end in just the third season (and with only eight episodes). Can't say that for other shows. The material still feels fresh. I think there's something wrong with your intake valve.
