The movie and its soundtrack just scream "this is from the mid-90's." Aside from the one-hit-wonders The Cardigans and Radiohead, the soundtrack also features Garbage, Butthole Surfers, Des'ree and Everclear.

God, the election's 17 months away and I'm already bored by the news and joke cycles.
The boyfriend and I set a two-a-day limit starting with this season of House of Cards. A 13-episode season takes seven days, so it's fast enough that I stay ahead of spoilers, and it's slow enough that I remember what happens in each individual episode months down the line.
She also provided one of the only laughs in Hot Tub Time Machine 2.
Played by Missi Pyle, beginning her long tour in hilarious/weird supporting roles in big-budget movies, culminating in her Not Nancy Grace performance in Gone Girl.
"Maudlin" is the correct word to describe this movie, albeit it's well-acted by Keaton and Kidman and better than most movies of this sort. However, I will always remember the scene toward the end where Keaton's father sits at his bedside and gives him a shave, as it is one of only three times in my life I've seen my…
As someone who hasn't read the book, even though the trailer revealed what seemed like the outline of the entire plot, I felt like it didn't give us any actual imagery from the third act, which I appreciated. Plus it just looks like a really good movie, and that cast!
My first job in high school was at a theater and it was a couple years before the switch ( worked there '04 to '06). We had the three platters but no official projectionist, so all the over-18 staffers had to learn the projectors and the managers just assembled the reels and let us go.
Appropriate that this one came up the day after Strange Days, as I always seem to pair it in my mind with Bigelow's Blue Steel, maybe because they're both potboiler stories with female protagonists that are better and more disturbing than their plot descriptions would suggest.
If they keep with the "older SNL women as mother figures" trend that 30 Rock did that one time, Nora Dunn and Ellie Kemper bear quite a bit of physical resemblance.
September release date, five writers and director of mediocrities = not promising, but I do love a good mountain-climbing movie, and the cast is stacked.
I dunno if I'd say Berg engaged in cheesy manipulation in either Deliver Us from Evil or West of Memphis. The former had a Catholic priest laughing about molesting a bunch of kids in California over a number of years. Don't really need manipulation when you have footage like that.
Unrelated: one of the only funny scenes in Horrible Bosses 2 has Jason Bateman asking "Name one movie or show where people kidnap someone and get away with it," and Jason Sudeikis says 9 to 5, and then there's a bunch of riffing about that movie. Cool story, I know.
That SNL is a brutal watch. He sounds and looks like he hasn't slept in days and has been smoking and drinking nonstop the entire time. During the goodbyes, Chris Rock (who was there as a backup host in case Farley couldn't make it) is basically holding him up and helping him read the cue cards.
He did, and he explains why in The Chris Farley Show (which, as Ricky Coogin said below, is excellent).
One day I was sitting at work and suddenly realized why Doug's neighbors were named the Dinks. This revelation occurred approximately 15 years after I had watched any episodes of Doug.
"The only people who will not be affected by this are the ones that decided to watch it based on commercials beforehand and they don't care about reviews anyway."
As I mentioned in the Newswire a couple days ago, after his period of brilliance and two unbelievably shitty movies, Cameron Crowe entered his "boring movies for old people" phase with We Bought a Zoo and appears to not be looking back.
I'd watch it if they changed it into a Capturing the Friedmans-style documentary filmed by the kids.
The first season was kind of eh - a little too sitcommy, and the relationship between Waterston and Sheen never felt believable - but there's the seeds of a very good show there, and the supporting cast is aces, so I'm willing to give it another season.
Plus, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are amazing. I hope I look as…
