Kelsey Grammer’s Beast was legitimately great, from the makeup to the performance. 

But there’s never been a reason for the character of Jean Grey to be covered in fur and prosthetics. The writers have twisted themselves into pretzels finding reasons for Hoult and Lawrence to avoid the makeup room.

I don’t begrudge Lawrence for not enjoying it. I begrudge FOX for shoehorning Mystique of all characters into these movies, only for her not to act or look like Mystique. It’s dumb.

I understand why they do it, but it completely kneecaps the very message of the story, particularly in regards to Mystique. In the original story, when asked why she doesn’t look human all the time, she says, “Because we shouldn’t have to.”
