He writes better than you. Being a critic isn't about handing out grades, and they more they agree with you, the better the critic. Or maybe it is in your world. But in his world, and mine, it's about having an interesting, informed reaction and expressing it well. I really don't care if I agree with him, and frankly…
shock of shocks, prog nerd can't handle anyone thinking nerdy prog music isn't the apex of human achievement and takes it personally.
He comes off like the ultimate music snob but he's not:
Only in the Gawker/Jezebel world would your completely legitimate suggestion be turned into you being a racist moron who is too dumb to understand the brilliance of twitter's limitations.
Oh my God, I can't believe you managed to make it about race. For God's sake. He is only saying it would be much easier and more manageable to read it if you had one tweet with a link instead of forty. It is a perfectly legitimate complaint about the limitations of communicating on twitter. It has absolutely NOTHING…
If your first reaction is to accuse me of being a racist because I questioned the medium for an essay I thought was well-written, than you have a lot to think about.
I thought all of the things you are posting when I read this, and I was like, "HA! No fucking way am I going to suggest in the comments section that Twitter was not the best medium for this worthwhile message. That would be a disaster."
I'm reposting a previous comment I made here that I think applies:
I thought it was a thoughtful and informative piece. I simply think it has more impact as a cohesive work than broken into 40 chunks sprinkled across someone's Twitter feed and competing with everything else on that feed.
I don't really get it either. Frankly these people who claim to get it, but refuse to tell you the point - I don't think they get it either.
Obviously I don't get it. Please tell me why anyone would tweet that instead of linking to an essay?
Ya. I'm old, but so is that GIF. Im right and you know it.
Why the hell would someone publish that as a series of 40 tweets when a link to a coherent essay of the same content would be so much better.
That they're comparing Iggy's (supposed) sex tape to Bill Cosby drugging and raping multiple women over decades is appalling.
Your answer is exactly the problem I'm having. I asked an honest, sincere question. Your reaction was to insult me, while giving a thoughtful response. However, another person had a completely different answer and encouraged the question and gave an equally thoughtful response. Two different people, two highly…
Stevie is going to be so pissed when he sees this!
Other evidence: He was nonplussed when Kate Upton gave him a blowjob, and had the same indifference when Joe Torre did the same.
There's always someone!
