I am too. For awhile I felt weird talking about how terrified I am that we could vote Trump in. No one else around me seemed all that bothered about the election, and everyone who is bothered, are pro-Trump. Everyone panicking online has really helped me feel less crazy.

I have tomorrow off as well. I plan to sleep in, vote, and then spend the day trying to avoid the news and/or drinking if I am unsuccessful. Then it is tacos for dinner.

The 2010 starting salary range is $43,964 – $74,891 for Secret Service agents. From what I read in the article, the $160K is just in overtime. Meaning they are still receiving their base salary, but no longer getting paid any additional overtime. The Secret Service is one of a few agencies that even pays overtime.

My theory on this is a lot of people were happy to hide by the “he is in entertainment and that is how they talk” excuse for the previous instances and this one is clearly in private so he can’t pretend he was just putting on an act.

Booze is always helpful at family events. We may agree, for the most part, on politics, but that doesn’t mean it is easy to make it through the whole day. :)

I am just hoping Thanksgiving won’t be about bashing President-Elect Trump and it will be about breathing a sigh of relief that we dodged that bullet (or nuke might be more accurate).

Oh, agreed that being open to non-PhD’s shouldn’t mean any celebrity remotely adjacent to their cause. Just saying that I can understand wanting to use that power to boost their program, even I don’t really agree with them for doing that.

Agreed. Quite a mixed reaction on my part. But, my graduate program was run by someone who didn’t have a PhD and I probably have learned more from him than any other professor I have ever had.
