He didn't want to seem like he was working against Gus, hence the huge apology afterwards. Despite all his bluster of being in control of his own life, he's still terrified of Gus.
This show works so well as a large narrative, it's hard to single out any one episode as best. It's all been good-to-great, imo.
So it would seem like he was there all night, working.
The better argument would be Max getting very emotional about defending Gus, but it's still a bit of a stretch, since he could have just been scared and/or nervous.
Maybe the BB writers keeping it vague is a nice way of saying "Their sexual orientation really does not matter, they're people first.".
Oh please. What was so reprehensible about Walt in the first 2 seasons, other then being bossy? He became a douchebag through his choices, that's the whole point of the show.

Especially since it's so random. I always assumed it was for grammatical purposes, like the difference between "a" and "an", but even then it's not really consistent.
Most jobs like the ones he uses as an example are demeaning though, especially if they make you wear a vest. He has a point about an inflated sense of entitlement, but fucking everyone feels that way, especially when they're young. You really want to crush their spirits so early?
