The drivers that are going to be special show it right away, even with difficult circumstances. The rest are essentially interchangeable. There might be a place for Palmer if he brings cash, but for teams trying to get somewhere, he represents a barrier to their developing drivers.

I wish him no ill will, but the reality is that he has no special talent, and he had plenty of time to show something. When teams are always looking for the next talent, they don’t have time to waste on average drivers.

Agree that Formula E is most likely for him. Hopefully he does well.

I don’t think he’s done enough to earn another shot. He had very mediocre results with no evidence of progression and was soundly trampled by his teammate. He’s a nice guy, and may even become an exceptional driver in a lower series, but he is not F1 worthy.
