He got away with something that is very grey, but still a douchey thing to do. If Vettel doesn’t retaliate to distract from the inciting event, we would still have gotten an investigation into some tomfuckery that didn’t look right.

That means nothing. You are taking too literal an interpretation of what a brake check is. Everybody expects Hamilton to dart out of the corner and he doesn’t. Vettel gets on it and Hamilton does something unexpected by not accelerating.

Anything the lead car does to create an unnatural speed differential to the guy behind is called a brake check. You’re basically checking that the guy behind is paying attention to piss them off and unsettle.
