I think the other side is that the big teams don’t want their chance of winning diluted. Ferrari have no financial interest in running as equals. Getting beat by manor would hurt sales of their road cars and that won’t be tolerated for long.

Nah, he didn’t kill the sport, just maintained the status quo. Now it’s time to get some fresh ideas, and hopefully better all around people in charge.
I blame the real problem with society today: video games. Think about the children.
Good points in this article, especially with addressing all the angles. But, it is just a touch biased against stupid people. Regardless of everything you’ve said, the aim of this vehicle seems to be full autonomy (whether expressly stated or implied), and it should be able to detect that you’re about to smash…
Autonomous driving is coming and won’t be stopped. It will ultimately boil down to probabilities, and the situation you described isn’t that likely. More people will survive and less accidents will occur when the car is in control.
Chime: “ Model X has detected a potentially unsafe situation. Do you really want to accelerate?”
Booooo. The greatest F1 champs of all time were WAY worse than Lewis could ever dream to be.
Yeah man, I’m no Lewis fan, but this is pro sports. He was totally justified.
Thought that was going to say “that fateful June 17th, when the Bronco chase was confirmed.”
I have an ATS-V.....but I don’t track it. And, I looked around my records, but couldn’t find the memo about that requirement. Guess I fucked up. Again.
The new owners might find it difficult to achieve parity in the sport because of what you mentioned. Anything that introduces revenue sharing will see the top teams leave and form their own series. There’s legitimate risk of the new owners not having an asset in 5 years if the visions fail to align.
I can never get streaming to work reliably, which is a real barrier to engaging the sport. Even if I try to pay, TSNs coverage in Canada is abysmal. They only pick it up to appease the couple thousand people in Canada that care, and do a really shitty job at relaying the experience. Last time I watched, they cut…
F1 could use a bit of Americanization. It’s sterile, boring, and out of touch with its fanbase at the moment. There’s no country that knows how to put on a better show than Americans, so let them have at it.
There is no hope of Americanizing an international sport like F1. With one race per year and no homegrown talent, why would anybody care?
Yeah man, that’s the real issue. Some people are just so adept at pushing everyone’s buttons that it’s impossible to keep it contained.
Run, don’t walk.
Merry Christmas. Thanks for taking the time to post articles today.
You speak in truths.
That’s 100% what they’re doing. This could cut into the loss recovery and they want to stop it before it becomes a problem.
No, it has to be vague because an unscrupulous dealer could accuse a client of deliberately stripping when a window visor or fuse panel is missing. If you are going to define what the whole car is, then you unfortunately have to define every single piece.
