I don’t know what to make of the rape charges. I can’t remember all the details, but the actual allegations sounded strange. That the charges were dropped fairly quickly, when he wasn’t even available to mount a vigorous defense, struck me as weird too.

There was a comic from the glory days of Def Comedy Jam who had a bit about this:

See Conservatives? THIS is an example of what someone who isn’t a “Washington Insider” can do, provided that someone is smart, contemplative, and genuinely concerned* about the actual substantive concerns of the public.

I partly agree with, but only partly. I tip on a sliding scale for service that isn’t abysmal, even though I hate this system. Tipping for shitty service is a bridge too far though.

While I’m glad it’s true, the fact that they can’t successfully recruit qualified people to wear the jack boots and terrorize people (as many obviously want to do) is simultaneously confusing and hilarious.

I would truly GENUINELY like to know what lawyer settled this wide ranging, clearly class action eligible lawsuit, with damages to who knows how many people, for figurative pocket change.

I’m genuinely sorry that someone did these terrible things to you. It sounds like you have been getting the help you need to heal, which is a necessary thing many never attempt.

I agree that people aren’t going to have perfect recall, but this isn’t a question of if one was wearing a particular brand of shoe, or jeans. It’s not even about properly remembering a day or date, or the weather when abuse is alleged to have occurred. This is about the age an accuser was when abuse was occurring.

I acknowledge how difficult it is for me to conclude that MJ molested any kids. MJ and the Jackson five we’re a big part of the musical culture when I was growing up. The music is something I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to completely let go of.
