I totally hear you - that’s why this is so difficult a topic. You make great points. FYI - I am a gun owner, not a anti-gun nut. I just think the whole system can be improved, but know it’s likely not going to happen. As I said, there is no silver bullet that will make all sides happy.

It’s similar to abstinence. If you pretend that sex and guns don’t exist, then when kids discover them, they have no idea what to do safely.

I just took the Massachusetts safety course so I could get a license. The course was awful. I don’t feel any more knowledgeable or safer about owning a gun than I did before I took it. The instructor spent the majority of the time talking about his own guns and how to use the myriad loopholes in Mass regs.

Nothing would prevent it, but you could pass laws to heavily dissuade gun ownership, and expecially poor gun safety.
