What's this a reference to? But yeah, I just looked him up for context (I'm assuming this might be a Lost reference?) and was a little surprised to see the silver hair he had in the film might be his natural color.

Leia did somehow think that Obi-Wan was her only hope, even if she'd apparently never met him? (Had she?) But yeah, at least Han knew him.
If that's true why was he on sanitation duty? (I honestly can't tell if you were kidding)
Huh, it's interesting he made the call to go with a non-native accent even though he probably got maybe two lines at most with the helmet on. Granted his American accent was still very convincing so maybe it wouldn't be that much of a strain some time down the line.
There's some chance that maybe Sydow, whoever he was, was out watching over Rey from a distance. …The Falcon thing seems like a bit of a longshot though.
I think they have everything on e-readers? Part of AotC takes place in a great Jedi library or something but honestly I wasn't paying attention to how they did research or what they actually looked like off the glowing shelves. Maybe it's all microfiche.
Yeah, I recognized the speech but I thought that they rerecorded it since I thought Leia figured it out from "my sister has it." I don't remember him spelling it out to her "you have it" so I assumed it was new. Also his voice sounded a bit huskier than I remember it sounding.
Yeah I wondered about that but he gets second billing. Were the trailers where he rerecorded dialogue intentionally deceptive or were those alternate paths the story once might have taken? (Same with all those other shots that weren't in the film of characters in different locations than we ever saw them?)
Given the plot convenience maybe Luke had him in stand-by until he realized what horrors were going down and he reactivated R2? Granted I can't remember how long after the planets with trillions of people had blown up that ended up taking. (Or the big narrative death)
I'm actually surprised (somewhat pleasantly???) how many elements they scavenged from the books though. Granted I think the big Death Star style super weapons somehow felt a little less contrived in the books— even if they were also often ridiculous. (I'm torn between the one that could destroy star systems but was…
There was no Tatiana Maslany but yeah, I'm surprised how many other long shots I dig got some acknowledgement at all— like Constance Wu or Rachel Bloom going head to head. (Also that female lead in a drama category does look pretty strong)
There was a pretty good Brian K Vaughn series I think in the midst of the original trilogy where he played the character as a solo anti-hero who worked for the good guys partially against her will.
Exploiting (possibly still too young) teenagers is a little different from little boys. There's still a very iffy power dynamic but there are still way too many people willing to draw links between gay people and pedophilia.
I think they are trying X-Force, and any New Mutants seems like they'd be slightly hampered by the film's current timeline suggesting the main cast will live out through 2023 in fairly prominent roles.
I thought there have been hints of it in at least one of the films, but yeah, I associate it so strongly with the franchise I'm a little disappointed it hasn't really recurred.
https://www.youtube.com/wat… It's around 2:55 and barely in hindsight.
I suppose it would have been a bit much for them to wait til the next Fourth of July on a Friday to release this (in 2025 apparently).
The entire time I read that I was thinking of the Campbell's Soup Star Wars ad with the gay parents and wondered what implication there was that either of them were the biological father.
I steal from Futurama all the time whenever I find the excuse to use discrete and discreet in the same sentence.
The infuriating thing is the last couple movies have been vast improvements on X3 and the first Wolverine, but they aren't quite perfect still. (That is. unless you're a fan of one of four characters who get all the character development and/or screen time.)
I think they're implying she wasn't in one of the two (presumably the first) but I don't know anything about the films besides the basic premise of the first one.
