The BETA process is where the Devs and gamers should/could have some constructive dialogue. It's a forum that some people are obviously not mature or informed enough to be invited to.....the devs have every right to be irritated by the crying deluded little kids that are interrupting the adults...

Ripping into a finished product and acting like the world is ending when a BETA doesn't meet one's expectations (and there are some pretty idiotic expectations and assumption about what a BETA is) are 2 different things.

I disagree. I never saw any blurred lines where the Beta could be misconstrued as a demo in the EA PR. If someone is intelligent enough to know what a "demo" is, then they can be expected not to assume "beta" means "demo".

I don't own a single hip-hop album (actually I may have an Arrested Dev album somewhere form the 90's) but I can just see the culture clash cringe coming from people who are whining about the choice of song....I can just imagine the sort of cliched stuff they would prefer to suit a war game.

Considering the reaction that these sort of things illicit on the interwebs, I'm pretty sure some number crunchers at Sony worked out it does make a difference......

Um oh don't get me wrong, I think COD take's itself very very seriously, but take pretty much everything you said wrapped in a plot I consider to be ludicrous, and that is the reason I don't think it's serious, nor can I take it seriously. Sounds like you need more innovation in the execution of shooters rather than blame it on the particular sub genre (in this case modern military).
