FWIW, it’s reversed in the UK, where ‘Asian’ as a generic term generally means Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi (which is over 70% of the Asian population) with the rest more often referred to as ‘East Asian.’

Who cares about the plot? It passes the Bechdel test! Background extras wear headscarves! What more do you need

The film not only aces the Bechdel test, it also scores high on the Harold & Kumar test. (Asians and tests! A match made in heaven!)

I’d think the various cultures involved would find being lumped together across multiple billions of people and close to 50 countries a bit reductive.

When they canned Dowd, they stole all his A’s and now are just handing them out everywhere

Can’t wait until the mom gets upset and eats the daughter.

As Meilin awoke one morning from uneasy dreams she found herself transformed in her bed into a gigantic red panda. She was lying on her fluffy, as it were lined with fur, back and when she lifted her head a little she could see her furry black belly on top of which the bed quilt could hardly keep in position and

This felt like a discussion of the cast rather than the film.

I love Saras arc and Growth but despite that seasons problems that is still personally one of my fave iterations of Sara. There was an episode where she might have had to kill Stein. As an audience we knew she didn’t want to do it but there was a chance she would, but the characters thought there was a good possibility

Nailed it. I even remember Micks friendship with Ray (one of my fave gags on this show was Ray always bringing snacks) and that whole Cold replacement arc Mick was going through. Astra and Gideon is a perfect example. Alot of the narrative inbetween was missing (we got a bit here and there over the season but no

Out of the 5 guests in each series I’d say there’s an average of 2.5 who are unknown even to most Brits. It has been a good foot in the door for quite a few comedians

Last time I reported Laserface for his constant harassment of people he doesn’t like here, I was told that the site admins would speak to him, and that I should not engage with him. I agreed that I would not.

Probably a little, but I found half the fun was getting to know them.

To this American, it’s also really weird to see people on a show like this who are never plugging another product or talking about what they’re up to. So figuring some of these people out just through context makes it kind of fun as well.

Sounds like a prize task that Greg Davies would be soundly criticizing.

Panel show/game show/improvised Double Dare competition series Taskmaster is arguably one of the better things to ever come out of England (especially since one of its main exports has historically been violent imperialism)

True. I forgot!

I remember thinking the finale was pretty nonsensical, and that the powers of the spear changed whenever the plot required it to. But I didn’t mind all that much because it was such a breath of fresh air after S1.

Seasons 3 and 4 went all in. On terrible stories, but at least they went all in!

Yeah... “Life” could have been something really good...

Honestly, that seems like both a more meaningful post - the women who are also fighting in the Ukraine - and somewhat withing Jez. wheelhouse.  Pity they went for the lowers possible fruit here.
