We could save ~30% of the gasoline consumed on freeway travel by enforcing a 55 MPH (or less) speed limit. Simple to do when typed out like that, extremely difficult to do in the real world.
Also grew up in the sticks. Can confirm.
My 93 Stealth did it also. Not bad but enough to be noticeable
What do I feel that this is just a rebrand of the same thing?
Tramlining is the term
I live somewhere that gets consistent rain for the most part and I knew this. I think it may not be something people deal with, but I am sure people know this.
It’s also not ‘one simple thing’. Commercial ships have been designed without sails for over a century, and they’ve been optimized for cargo efficiency. I would say the SN95 Mustang GT. Barely ran a 15 second 1/4 mile if equipped with the 2.73 rear end gears. The brakes were super sketchy. The seats felt like half-inflated pool floats.
Winter tires should be mandatory in more places.
Grew up in Iowa and it slipped my mind about the close calls I had on packed snow on its way to turning into ice. And yeah, “harrowing” is the perfect word when you go to steer or brake and there’s NO response so your heart immediately jumps to your throat. “Good” times then, so good call.
The mechanicals, and most of the electrics, are pretty bulletproof with Lexus. The infotainment systems pre Android-Auto and Carplay were notoriously terrible.
