It’s not really that Tesla’s piece of the pie is shrinking, but rather the pie is growing. EVs as a whole are gaining market share against ICE, which is the real battle to fight. It was never Tesla’s goal to achieve 100% EV market share, but to create an environment where a rising tide lifts all boats.

Yeah, they aren’t going to get service visits and money from those out-of-state sales, so it makes sense to make up that money on the sticker.
This is a good choice. It is similar in principle to the Impala from the beginning of Drive, where the car was pretty hopped-up but was totally unremarkable otherwise and blended in with all the other normie cars.
