Very true, Europe from an external viewpoint can be pretty confusing, we are the connoisseurs of racism. Even in our own countries it happens, how many people that come from “unpopular” parts of our own countries are discriminated against.

Who would know? Would take a hell of a data scrape to work that out, it certainly does happen, but there are lots of motivations for murdering people. Racism takes a lot of shapes and a lot of forms as well, and some issues are political as much as racial, in a lot of European countries for examples police shootings

It’s largely because UK virus levels are dropping, some areas are either at pre-lockdown levels or essentially clear. While there is an element of populism I suppose you can’t really keep the lockdown going indefinitely, it just isn’t possible as people need to consent to it, but you also need to pay for it.

Given the current data of virus incidence rates even with hindsight it would be very difficult to make any significant changes to what was done. If you look back any of the more extreme actions that could have been taken at a time where they would be useful would have gone against the evidence of the time.

Europe is WAY more racist than the US, they just are equal opportunity racist i.e. it matters way more where you are from and social class than the colour of your skin. If you want to see white people be racist to each other it is absolutely the place to go though and if you have money you are largely immune to it in

I’m not aware of any EU countries that don’t have a better handle on things than the US. The worst hit being Italy, UK and Spain all have declining rates and only minor local outbreaks, they certainly aren’t still having outbreaks of the level that US is having in several states.

What business is it of yours? If the mask is properly filtered underneath it doesn’t make a difference and we are likely to see more of those masks if they become more common especially as those tend to be ones with replaceable filters that are going to be more sustainable.

They could very well have pulled it off by pushing into something a bit more innovative, but they very much Googled the hell out of it so as per usual they both took risks and played it safe and ended up with nothing quite working.

Yeah, but a B52 is one of the most expensive to operate aircraft in the US arsenal, more than almost any other specialized aircraft.

There are lots of bespoke platforms, but similarly for the same roles of launching stand off munitions and general purposes payloads from munitions to sensors we have been converting airliners since the 70s with no problems. And they have the advantage you can refit them incredibly flexibly and are actually

Hows that any different from Socialism? That the state buys things it doesn’t need and leaks taxpayer money into the private investors of the companies involved isn’t a good thing. You could take all that money and invest it in healthcare, social care, education and policing and solve a huge number of problems and

F35 while expensive has the benefit that it is genuinely very good at what it does, and it was at least designed for a very long operational lifetime. A lot of it’s issues come from the methodology i.e. design a new aircraft quickly all at the same time rather than the spiral approach i.e. design an airframe then

You can do that with almost any airframe, but the cost of doing it is not cheap. It is absolutely a non trivial task to replace structural components on an airframe, even older ones where the construction techniques at least make it somewhat easier. No other airforce in the world has found doing that value for money

I very much could have done it, I’ve got a valuable enough niche, and I did set up a side business or two over the years. However, that requires a lot of wheeling and dealing and risk that I wasn’t happy with given the state of the industry and the policy wasn’t really in place at the time and still isn’t now.

To be fair that is an absolutely great life lesson even if it isn’t satisfying from the entertainment perspective. Bad people do bad things and get rewarded for it.

I actually did mines in Industry rather than a school, and I did go to some very good schools as well. I had a job the whole time, but had no inclination to keep working in that corner of industry! There absolutely is over-qualified, I lost count of the amount of times I got told they couldn’t afford to pay me they

I give you the industrial revolution, modern medicine, modern agriculture, polymers, the vast majority of improvements in welding and material technology.

Thing is those jobs pay, I went and did a Doctorate in Renewables, struggled to get a decent paid job off the back of it and doing it actually ended up costing me my career as an Engineer as it is really hard to despecialise and get hired if you are overqualified.

Mostly because the people that screwed up were all American contractors with deep ties to the Government. Internationally BP is actually a good business with decent ethics, they actually bankrolled a lot of European renewable through the 70s up to late 00s when it became market viable including paying the leading

He actually pointed out he only knelt to the Queen and to his wife when he asked her to marry him, I believe he was more referencing the current trend incorrectly. Which isn’t really that surprising, it isn’t like when you work at that level you have a lot of time to spend learning about American Football or American
