So, he’s Father John Pissty?
So, he’s Father John Pissty?
Judging by that photo Jared Leto is also pissed that he’s not Father John Misty.
As one without the fiscal capacity nor the ability to fly hemispheres to see a band that I like; I can safely say that people that think like that suck.
New DFA! I’ve liked the new singles well enough that I’m sure this will be good
I see both sides of it but if anyone’s still mad they need to cool off, they came back almost two years ago. And for those of us too poor to see their “final” shows back in 2010, I’m thankful I got to see them last year, genuinely one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
I’m glad they’re back and don’t care about hurt feelings over a farewell concert that wasn’t a farewell.
Some real solid Talking Heads and early Killers vibes on a few of these. Just heaps of James Murphy tho. What a bloody champ. Shout out to this guy.
I’m just distressed by the fact that it’s not very good.
It’s a popular stand point for people who pretend they like them.
Some ignoramuses feel the emotions they felt from the farewell concert have been cheated or something.
Why should anyone be mad at LCD Soundsystem deciding to make more music?
Anyone pissed at them is a complete flaming moron who shouldn’t be allowed to write about music. That’s my hot take.
Both Blue Ruin and Green Room are terrific, and Blue Ruin is way more interesting on a subtextual level. If nothing else, I hope we get more of that.
I liked S2. I liked the sense of heat and sweat and malaise that came across through the cinematography. Was the story a tad convoluted? Sure. But it was no more convoluted than S1. I certainly didn’t want a continuation of the “time is a flat circle” bullshit. That would be retreading old territory.
S2 was engaging…
I’m still getting used to singling out Green Room as Saulnier’s defining movie. Green Room was good, but it was distinguished by how relentless it was in escalating the tension and violence. I think Blue Ruin showed more potential for a deliberate, considerate approach to violence that an episodic TV series like True…
I feel ya. I went on this day with this guy a couple years ago and I was in a why not vibe and allowed his “Want to see the tacky art I’ve found at Goodwill?” as the lame excuse to go back to his place. Then we got there and all I could think was “Really you knew you had odds you might bring a girl home and you didn’t…
I like to reference Marge’s description of her sisters from The Simpsons: “It’s Patty who has chosen a life of celibacy. Selma has simply had celibacy thrust upon her.”
I didn’t choose celibacy, celibacy chose me. I miss sex but I’m also like Cher from Clueless: “You’ve seen how picky I am about my shoes and they only go on my feet.”
I am totally embracing celibacy too, whether I want it or not.
