thats why I actually think the "ending" of the series is quite perfect. (Spoilers, I guess?)Two big fish at loggerheads wind up completely fucked by a big bad from out of town, who leaves unscathed. I doubt the show would have had the balls to do an ending that bleak if they had planned it.

yeah x-men ended with age of apocalypse for me. Everything since hasn't stuck. Though I did like the concept of cyclops being more badass and having that cool suit. Comics didn't do much with it though.
