The Great Taste of the Midwest was this weekend and it basically took up my entire weekend.  I went out to the pre-parties on Friday night with a few friends.  The highlight of the night was seeing the Polkaholics playing outside of the Essen Haus as part of the Revolution Brewing party.  I would have stayed all night

Yeah, that was a real awkward call.

Friday afternoon I watched most of the 2002 Spiderman while I was cleaning my place.  It hasn't aged that well, not that I was really expecting it to but it's interesting to see how much better superhero movies have gotten in the past ten years.  I also watched The Machinist later that night after getting back from a

I've still got all those old comps stored away somewhere.  I couldn't actually throw them away given how often I listened to them driving around (with my Discman & tape adapter set up) in high school.

It is a huge fucking hole in the ground, and I say that with the utmost respect.

Agreed.  And I'll never stop saying "I'm invited into very few personal homes" anytime I visit a friend's place.

True Story: When I was in 8th grade I went to see a B-17 down in Indiana with my father and great-uncle and bought a t-shirt with the nose art printed on it, basically a woman sitting on a bomb wearing a short skirt and a low-cut uniform.  When I wore it to school a teacher sent me to the principal like I was wearing

My 2012 favorites so far:
For movies I really liked Haywire, Moonrise Kingdom, and Goon.
TV: Archer, Community, Happy Endings, and Bob's Burgers are my favorites of the year.  Sad face for not seeing much of Justified this season as it wasn't on Hulu.
Books: Technically it came out last year but I didn't hear about it

I was a fan of the Refreshments back when Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy came out and I would say I followed the Peacemakers band sporadically since Americano though I'd never seen them live.  A friend of mine is a really big RCPM fan, even doing the Mexico shows and all.  Last year he had an extra ticket to a show and

It definitely was an action-first type of movie.  I also liked the idea of a safe house operator just sitting around waiting for something to happen and I thought this was used pretty well early in the movie.  The super-spy out in the cold trope was a bit of a non-starter for me but it's hard to not get sucked in by

Thursday night I drove over to Milwaukee to see Rhett Miller with Roger Clyne opening, so I was pretty beat on Friday and skipped out on going to see a local band.  I did wake up from a much too long nap and watched Safe House.  I don't recall seeing much marketing for this when it came out so I had pretty low
