First Gear reminds me of a Road and Track article that turned up in yesterday about there being no middle cars; everything is either very pricy and comfortable or cheap and nasty.

Bingo. Why spend so much for a fat sedan that will have tepid sales in the US and be a non-player in the rest of the world when you can push an I30 through US requirements and sell something well proven in the rest of the world to the handful of aficionados that would go out of their way for it?

Big hail is pretty new in Denver where my family’s been since 1912.

I’ve thought of doing the drive from Alaska to Argentina, usually with an older station wagon as it uses public roads and the highway. How did you get around the Darien Gap? The ferry service looks like it’s closed more than it’s running.

West Virginia used to have some really ominous graffiti in coal country. Multiple signs telling a story of running off scabs, huge warnings painted on the road and gangs of men at mine entrances with a couple of burn barrels were pretty common. I didn’t know there were still any brothers out there kicking ass. All you
